Hope for Haiti Now: Madonna to perform...
Category: Madonna live.
Our friend Martin Haro from moviemartin.blogspot.com, who has always been reliable and accurate in the past, has some news to share with all Madonna's fans out there... let's see if his sources are right this time too.
Directly from Martin:
Madonna is set to perform live from New York during tonight's "Hope for Haiti Now" telethon.
My source tells that the Queen of Pop, who already has donated $250,000 to relief efforts in the island nation, will perform an oldie but a goodie - fan favorite "Like a Prayer."
The last time M performed (John Lennon's "Imagine") on a televised telethon was in 2005, in the wake of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
Thanks to Martin. Check out http://moviemartin.blogspot.com and http://twitter.com/moviemartin.
Haiti earthquake: Madonna donation and statement!
Category: Charity.
“My prayers are with the people of Haiti. I can’t imagine the terrible pain and suffering they are experiencing. Sadly the depths of the tragedy are just becoming known and the need for our support grows more urgent with every passing moment.
I have given a donation of $250,000 to assist Haiti’s earthquake victims through Partner’s in Health (www.phi.org) one of Haiti’s leading health care providers. I urge all of my friends and fans around the world to join me collectively to match my contribution or give in any way you can. We must act now.
Thank you for your support”

[Rumours] A New Album In The Works?
Category: Madonna upcoming projects.
The Examiner: Madonna finally seems like Madonna again. She has lost the British accent, the talentless British husband, lives in New York City, and is actually smiling again. She looks like she has gained some badly needed weight as well. Madonna is about to start recording her new album. David Guetta (Black Eyed Peas) has bragged about working on some of the tracks. The only other confirmed producer is Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen). We are far more excited about Brendan O'Brien than David Guetta. It's a perfect time for Madonna to start working on a new album. Recent albums from fellow divas Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey have failed to live up to any hype

Despite the unimaginable conditions, there is a hope and a determination in the people of Malawi that is nothing short of contagious. It's the spirit of Malawians that keeps me coming back.

Daily Mail on Madonna ''Duchess'' movie
Category: Gossip.
The singer Madonna is receiving a helping hand from ex-husband Guy Ritchie in casting an odd-sounding film about Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson. Ritchie looked over the screenplay for the movie - called W.E. - and suggested his former wife seek meetings with several well-respected actors such as Mark Strong and Toby Kebbell, who both had major roles in Ritchie's last film, RocknRolla. Madonna has written the movie with Alek Keshishian, who directed the egomaniacal performer in the documentary Madonna: Truth Or Dare in 1991 when she was, it must be said, pretty mega. Madonna will also direct the movie. A couple of agents who represent distinguished thespians sought reassurances that Madonna was not going to act in the picture as well. 'She would have said if she was to be in it. It's a game-changer. Some find it difficult to act opposite her. Ask Rupert Everett,' a denizen of Soho told me yesterday. W.E. is described as a romantic comedy about a woman called Wally Winthrop. The synopsis of W.E. states that Wally was 'named for her grandmother's passion' and there are fantasy and flashback scenes involving Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson who, after the Abdication, were styled the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. There's a lot of dialogue between the Duke and Duchess, but my guess is that the screenplay will be re-written before shooting commences next year. I'm presuming W.E. stands for Wallis and Edward. Other segments of the film have Wally Winthrop marrying a paediatrician. She then attends an event featuring items that belonged to the Duchess of Windsor where she finds herself falling for a security guard. Madonna has several meetings planned this week and next with various actors and actresses. She needs to cast a star name to help boost the budget. In this climate, Madonna's name alone won't guarantee a picture will be financed. A suggestion that David Tennant would be in W.E. was met with the acronym C.R.A.P. (for complete rubbish and p***)

Madonna to lay school's foundation stone in Malawi
Category: Madonna upcoming projects.
LILONGWE, October 22 (Reuters Life!) - U.S. pop star Madonna will visit Malawi on Sunday to lay the foundation stone of a multi-million dollar girls' school she is building, her charity Raising Malawi told Reuters. The singer, who has adopted two children from the southern African country, is due to arrive on Sunday and attend a brick-laying ceremony in Lilongwe on Monday. The school is expected to cost about $15 million. "She plans to meet the President Bingu wa Mutharika and together lay a foundation stone for her multi-million dollar girls school," a staffer at the charity, who declined to be named, said on Thursday. An AIDS epidemic has left over a million children orphaned in the impoverished country of 13 million. Malawi's government came under fire after Madonna adopted a 13-month-old boy, David Banda, in 2006, with critics accusing it of giving her special treatment by skirting laws that ban non-residents from adopting children. In June this year, Malawi's Supreme Court overturned a lower court ruling made in April which said Madonna could not adopt a four-year girl -- Mercy James -- because the singer was not a resident of the country. Madonna last year divorced British film director Guy Ritchie, with whom she has a son Rocco. She also has a daughter Lourdes from her relationship with fitness trainer Carlos Leon.
Madonna gave Glee the rights to her catalog: an all-Madonna-music episode is in the works.
Category: TV.
From Entertainment Weekle / Glee:
Are you sitting down, Gleeks? Well you might want to, because we have some exclusive Glee news that’s positively Madge-ical.
EW has learned that Madonna has given Glee the rights to her catalog and that an all-Madonna-music episode is in the works for early next year.
The hit series has been building an audience and filling the iTunes charts with its cover songs, and Madonna’s involvement is a testament to how big the show is getting.
Also, an amazing Glee cover of a classic Madonna track has the potential to be even bigger than the show’s blockbuster take on “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Quinn totally has to do “Papa Don’t Preach.” And I can completely see Rachel tackling “Material Girl.”
