Walk Out of Poverty: Madonna planning a charity concert in Malawi?

According to the Daily Mirror, Madonna is planning a huge Live Aidstyle charity concert in Malawi in September which will be shown on TV around the world and will be called Walk Out of Poverty.
The UK newspaper Madonna has called in favours from showbiz friends including U2 frontman Bono to perform at the gig.
The Daily Mirror writes that a source at Raising Malawi said last night: "Plans are in place to make this the biggest fund-raiser the world has ever seen."
The tabloid reports that the show will be held at a stadium in Blantyre, Malawi's largest city, and than 60,000 fans will get free tickets for the concert, but TV rights and merchandising will rake in millions.
The source added to the Mirror: "Madonna is throwing everything into it. She knows the bigger the event the more money will be raised."

The editor in chief of the Italian weekly magazine "Chi", whose publisher is the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, announced today that next Saturday, February 27, he will premiere an exclusive photoshot with Madonna's daughter Lourdes Maria, also known as Lola.

The editor, Alfonso Signorini, said that it will be sensational, but he didn't explain if it will be a paparazzi shot or an studio shot. The shot will be showed next Saturday on Canale 5 show "Verissimo".

LOS ANGELES: Madonna is hoping to sign up former 'Doctor Who' star David Tennant for the role of King Edward VIII in her new movie 'W.E'. Madonna wants to sign up David Tennant for her new film. The 51-year-old is directing and writing 'W.E' - which will tell the story of the relationship between Britain's King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson - and is hoping the former 'Doctor Who' actor will take on the role of the monarch, who sensationally abdicated the British throne to live with the American divorcee in 1936. A source said: "Madonna's interest in directing a drama was first revealed a year ago. "She put it on hold while going through her divorce but is really keen to get into directing again and has her eye on David, having loved his work on 'Doctor Who'." Madonna, 51, was originally planning to play the part of Wallis, but has since reconsidered and is in talks with Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga. Madonna's only other directing credit is 2008's 'Filth and Wisdom', which starred Richard E. Grant and Eugene Hutz, although she has served as a writer on documentary 'I Am Because We Are'. The 'Hung Up' singer's own acting career has been wildly inconsistent with panned performances in a host of movies, including 'Swept Away' and 'Body of Evidence', but critically acclaimed appearances in musical 'Evita' and 'Desperately Seeking Susan' 'W.E' is still in pre-production and has a preliminary release date of 2011.

Vera Farmiga ("Up in the Air") is eyeing the plum role of Simpson, who precipitated the most severe constitutional crisis in the English monarchy in the 20th century after Edward proposed to her, only months into his reign. There is no word yet on who will play King Edward. Madonna is writing the script with Alex Keshishian, who directed the multihyphenate in "Truth or Dare." Former Miramax exec Colin Vaines and David Parfitt are producing the pic. CAA is handling domestica sales while IM Global has international. This will which will be Madonna's second directorial effort; her first, "Filth and Wisdom," preemed at Berlin in 2008. Simpson led a colorful life, having been married twice before her romance with Edward. The two of them, who lived the rest of their lives as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, spent the best part of three decades living a life of leisure as social celebrities around the world.

The last time M performed (John Lennon's "Imagine") on a televised telethon was in 2005, in the wake of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

Filmed in Buenos Aires, over four days to a crowd exceeding 256,000 fans, the concert also includes a show stopping moment when Madonna performs a historic “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” to a thunderous audience response from her Argentine fans.
