Madonna Wins Big at the Billboard Touring Awards.
Category: Awards.
From our friends at Billboard magazine:
Madonna fans all across the globe know she puts on a show like no other. The music industry knows this too. That’s why Madonna went home a big winner from our Billboard Touring Awards. The ‘material girl’ took home top honors for “Sticky & Sweet” acknowledging it as the highest-grossing and highest-attended tour of the year.
The official announcement and a list of all the winners can be found here.
Madonna up for 2 Billboard Touring Awards!
Category: Awards.
Madonna, U2 and AC/DC are among the finalists for the 2009 Billboard Touring Awards, which will be handed out at a special reception in New York on Nov. 5. The awards are based on global box office numbers reported to Billboard Boxscore from Oct. 1, 2008, through Sept. 30, 2009.
The finalists for the Top Tour and Top Draw awards, which acknowledge the top grossing and ticket selling tours, respectively, are the same three global treks: U2's 360 tour, Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour, and AC/DC's Black Ice tour.

Madonna and Moore Teaming Up Again for Oscars?
Category: Awards.
From Eonline:
Madonna and Demi Moore are on their way to becoming the new queens of Oscar night.
I just got word that the two Hollywood sirens will, as they did last year, cohost a party with Guy Oseary at Oseary’s L.A.-area home after this year’s awards ceremony on Feb. 22.
Among the guests at last year’s soiree were Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, Cameron Diaz, Orlando Bloom and even Sir Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, who made their way there after hosting their annual AIDS fundraiser.
Madonna and Moore’s guest list will again be invite-only. Hopefully, Moore and hubby Ashton Kutcher will convince Madonna to twitter from the party.
Meanwhile, Sir Elton’s 17th annual Oscar benefit for his AIDS foundation will feature a performance by Grammy nominee Raphael Saadiq.
“I won’t believe it’s happened until it’s happened,” Saadiq told me the other day. “It’s unbelievable.”
Vanity Fair will return after taking a break last year because of the writers’ strike. Editor-in-chief Graydon Carter and his crew have already said things will be scaled back from years past. Taking place for the first time at Jeff Klein’s Sunset Tower hotel, Vanity Fair peeps insist it will be smaller and more intimate than in years past and will use recycled décor to help save money and the environment.

Eric West congratulates Madonna at gym.
Category: Awards.
Eric West posted on his official MySpace blog yesterday that the actor/singer ran into the icon at the gym they both workout at this week, saying
"I think I like Reebok! I've seen Madonna twice this week at my gym. And usually I see other celebs pretty often, but not every day do you plan on going to the gym and think that Madonna is going to walk in the door. I got to say congrats on her Roll Hall of Fame Induction but that's as good as it got before she went into a private room. Still pretty cool though!"

VH1 Classic to televise the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
Category: Awards.
As VH1/Filter announced to DrownedMadonna.com on February 16, VH1 Classic will broadcast the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony" live. Read the press release:
VH1 Classic will air the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony" LIVE on Monday, March 10 at 8:30 PM/ET. Music fans will get to see and hear Madonna, John Mellencamp, Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark Five and The Ventures get inducted into this esteemed musical institution as the action and music unfolds. In addition, Little Walter will be inducted into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s" sideman category, and the newly named "Ahmet Ertegun Award" (formerly the non-performer category) will be presented to legendary producers, Gamble & Huff.
For the second time, the induction ceremony will be telecast LIVE from the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City on VH1 Classic and MTV Networks’ MHD: Music High-Definition channel on Monday, March 10 at 8:30 PM/ET. In addition, a special two and a half hour highlight edition will premiere on VH1 on Saturday, March 22 at 11:00 PM.
The week leading up to the live special, VH1 Classic will air special programming to salute past and present Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees including Madonna, The Police, Stevie Wonder, Elton John and more. Highlighted programming for the week includes:
Both a classic documentary and a vital pop-cultural artifact, D.A. Pennebaker’s portrait of Bob Dylan in "Don’t Look Back" airing on Monday, March 3 at 9:00 PM captures the seminal singer-songwriter on the cusp of his transformation from folk prophet to rock trendsetter. The documentary was shot during Dylan’s 1965 British concert tour.
VH1 Classic will air "BBC Crown Jewels: Stevie Wonder" on Tuesday, March 4 at 7:00 PM. The episode will feature a studio concert featuring one of the most enduring stars of popular music, Stevie Wonder. The concert was filmed in Teddington Studios for an audience of less than 200 and includes many of his Motown hits.
Marking 40 years since The Who’s first U.S. appearance in North America, "VH1 Rock Docs: Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who" airing on Wednesday, March 5 at 8:00 PM is an exhilarating feature-length film about one of the seminal and most influential rock bands in history. Spanning over four decades, this documentary tells the unfolding story of The Who and how they have straddled the rock world for forty years. The film features all-new, exclusive, never-before-seen interviews with Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey and others, rare and recently discovered concert footage, artist profiles and more.
"Led Zeppelin: Live" is culled from the few performances filmed during the band’s lifetime. You’ll see them at London’s Royal Albert Hall in January 1970, shortly after the release of their blistering debut album. You’ll catch them at Madison Square Garden in ’73 then on to London’s Earl’s Court in May 1975. Finally, you’ll sweat and groove to their record-breaking performances at Knebworth in 1979, just one year before the loss of drummer John Bonham. "Led Zeppelin: Live" premieres on Friday, March 7 at 9:00 PM.
On Monday, March 10 at 1:30 PM VH1 Classic will air "Rock and Roll Picture Show: Desperately Seeking Susan" starring Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Madonna and Rosanna Arquette. The film is a delightfully offbeat, original comedy about a bored suburban housewife whose fascination with a kooky character she reads about in the personal ads leads to her being mistaken for the woman herself.

Iggy & The Stooges to perform for Madonna at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
Category: Awards.
According to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Iggy & The Stooges will perform for Madonna at this year’s induction ceremony. The choice of the Stooges may raise some eyebrows, but isn’t as strange as it seems: both the band and Madonna are Detroit natives, and Iggy Pop opened for Madonna at the Dublin date for her Reinvention Tour in 2004.
Other performers scheduled at the induction ceremony, which takes place next Monday, March 10th, at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel: Damien Rice (for Leonard Cohen); James Cotton (for Little Walter); Patti LaBelle (for Gamble & Huff); plus John Mellencamp and the Ventures, both of whom are being inducted.
