Drowned Madonna: Hi Jeffrey. It's an honour to talk with you. When did you start working for Madonna again?
Jeffrey Fulvimari: Got assaulted in New York City last year, and I got flowers from Madonna and our publisher. That started us talking about the future, and they unveiled their plans to me for the new series of 12 books.
DM: 12 book!!! Are all these books finished?
JF: The books are not all written yet.
DM: Were you excited and honoured to work for her again?
JF: Absolutely. SO much had happened in her career since the first book.... and I think the crucifixion scene in her Confessions Tour really put her up there with Michaelangelo and all the museum greats of Artists of all time, so I was so happy she wanted to work with me again...
DM: What's the differences this time?
JF: The Roses are a bit more grown up. They have that sort of glamour that little girls have.... sometimes they can look like little girls and then sometimes you get a clue into what they will look like as grown up women. They aren't wearing make up yet, still, but you can see they will all grow up to be amazing women one day. The stories are much more fleshed out and you really get a peek into their lives much more. I feel that these books will become American classics, like Little House on the Prairie or something, but for the new millenium set...
DM: What's your favourite book?
JF: Hard to say...I loved "A Rose By Any Other Name"... a peek into the life of Posh Girl Charlotte. She lives in a huge Georgian mansion with her family, and she likes to hide the fact that she went to charm school. Charlotte down deep feels lonely in her castle, and just wants to be a normal girl like the other Roses.... I got to draw some really cool interiors, and then some cool stage sets for the girls' school production of "Romeo and Juliet", which of course, the girls star in and do the sets and costumes for. The Roses are growing up!!!!!
DM: What are you current and upcoming projects?
JF: I have a brand in Japan and in most of Europe and the UK called "Bobbypin by Jeffrey Fulvimari". This is what I do most of the time. We sell everything from handbags to gladrags, slippers, notebooks, cosmetics....you name it, we make it. All with my signature no nosed girls with big eyes and a positive outlook on life..... I am also in talks to helm an animation project written by Lisa Edelstein, who portrays Hugh Laurie's boss in the hit TV show "House". I sing karaoke for fun, and just won first prize in my local karaoke contest last week. (laughing). A guy's gotta have a hobby! I'm having an exhibition in Japan in October, and have had three large exhibitions in NYC, LA and Akron, Ohio (my hometown) at a museum there.
DM: Just one more question... Are you a fan of Madonna?
JF: I was a huge M fan even before this job, and so I have of couse seen your site, and have enjoyed it immensely. There is only one thing to do with someone as
special as Madonna....celebrate her. She told us so in one of her very first
songs !!!!!!! But, mostly, she gives us something more to adore every year, and
aside from making huge hits, her work in Malawi is something for everyone to
emulate. Working with her is a dream come true !!! I have an ex friend who said
she was cruel, but really the ex-friend is actually way more cruel than his
claims. She has NEVER EVER treated me in any other way but professionally, and
with respect. I mean, gosh when the Queen of Pop loves what you do, there's no
better feeling !!! I really concentrate on the fact that these books are
bringing a better life to those most in need in the world, and until more
celebrities (and celebrity photographers) step up and do the charitable works
she is doing, they cannot speak an ill word about her. People need to stop
copying her videos and performances, and copy what really means the most to
her...RAISING MALAWI !!!!
THAT'S what it's all about !!!!!!
