28 years ago: Madonna receives the Video Vanguard Award

On this day 28 years ago Madonna receives the Video Vanguard Award, also known as the Lifetime Achievement Award and then renamed as the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Madonna actually received this Vanguard Award two years before Michael Jackson and two years after the Beatles and David Bowie.

The Vanguard Award is given to musicians who have made the greatest impact on video music. Madonna received it so early on her career because she really made unprecedent impact to the music culture in just a relative short time.

Madonna received her Vanguard Award on September 10, 1986 dressed as in her True Blue music video. She was introduced by Robert Palmer.

Madonna had an immense popularity since then by pushing the boundaries and provoking without any fear.
