Madonna and Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa reached out to Madonna about a future collaboration

In an interview with Music Week, Dua Lipa’s manager Ben Mawson revealed that he was drafting an email to Madonna about a potential collaboration.

It is not a secret that Dua Lipa is a big fan of Madonna and been influenced by her.

Despite lockdown, Dua Lipa has previously teased that she’s still preparing material for release from her latest album Future Nostalgia, as well as some previously un-heard tracks.

Rumours are now circulating that Due Lipa and Madonna might be collaborating for Dua Lipa‘s next single, which is supposed to be Levitating. The rumours are enforced by Madonna recently following Dua Lipa on Instagram, and Sarah Hudson, who co-wrote the track, posting various Madonna‘s pictures on her Instagram Stories.

Dua Lipa‘s manager has now confirmed that her Future Nostalgia was heavily influenced by Madonna‘s Confessions on a Dancefloor, both of which featured songs produced by Stuart Price.

When asked by the magazine if Dua Lipa could be the next Madonna, Mawson responded: “Well it depends what you mean. She’s definitely going to have a long career. She’s definitely the complete pop star and obviously the album was heavily influenced by Madonna.”

In fact, we’re about to try and get Madonna on a record. I’m going to write the email and see if she’s up for a track.

Dua told me she aspired to be Madonna when I met her, when she was 17,” Mawson continued. “And there was something about the way she said it that made me believe her! It was about her personality, her charisma, her competitiveness and her drive and that came across. Dua’s got it all, so she’s unlimited potential.”

Dua Lipa recently admitted she would like to ‘do a Madonna’ and reach her creative peak in her 40s. This was the age, of course, that Madonna released Confessions on a Dancefloor.

“I want to do this for as long as I can,” Dua Lipa told The Sun. “I feel Madonna peaked [in her 40s] and made the best pop album known.”
